This past year we began to build a Youth Group community among the community’s teens. As expected we have had a wonderful response while it is still has more growth and development ahead.
One thing we missed this year was a regular meeting/learning session with our teens. While I do not want to impede the growth of the Youth Group, I do feel that there is opportunity to build another aspect of teen programming here at WJC. As a result of this I am introducing to you our new “Teen Gathering” program. Please read below for a description of this new program:
WJC TEEN GATHERING ~ 2010-2011
Teens will gather at the WJC on a Monday evening once a month. Typically these meetings will fall on the First Monday of the month but there may be a few exceptions. These monthly gatherings will include some type of relevant programming, time to socialize and a short meeting to inform those gathering of the upcoming youth group events. Refreshments will be served at each meeting, those attending the gathering will be asked to bring $5 to help cover the costs of the refreshments. Teens participating in the gathering are not required to be WJC Youth Group members and teens involved in the WJC Youth Group are not required to attend the Teen Gathering
Teen Gathering meets from 6:30-8:30 pm (unless notified otherwise):
September 27th (Sukkot programming)
October 4th
November 1st
December 6th (Channukah Celebration)
January 3rd
February 7th

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about this program. I am always happy to hear from you!

PS – We have just hired a Bard College Student, Elyse Foladare, to facilitate the Teen Gathering program and to serve as Youth Group Advisor. We hope to have a welcome gathering for teens and parents to meet her once school begins. Once we set the date I will let all of you know so you can join in welcoming her to our community! ~JM
