SUBMISSION GUIDELINES The mission of Gallery Lev Shalem is to enrich the experience of all members and visitors to the synagogue through presenting a series of art exhibitions that reflect Jewish themes or values. The exhibitions represent diverse expressions from visual artists in and beyond our Congregation. Our goals for Gallery Lev Shalem include: to showcase creative talents and to raise funds to further the life of the Congregation. A portion of the sale of each of these works will be given to the Congregation.
Who May Apply We consider original, wall-mounted works in all media including painting, drawing, print-making, photography, digital image making, and fine crafts such as weaving or ceramic sculpture. Our constraints for space will not allow for floor works such a sculpture or works that need pedestals or vitrines. Only ready-to-install, wall-mounted works can be considered. Besides our members, artists from outside the Congregation, whether they are Jewish or not, may apply to show their works in the program if the work has specific Jewish themes or worldview consistent with the spirit of this Congregation. Artists who are members of WJC will pay a 20% commission on sales. Nonmembers will pay 25%.
