SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The mission of Gallery Lev Shalem is to enrich the experience of all members and visitors to the synagogue through presenting a series of art exhibitions that reflect Jewish themes or values. The exhibitions represent diverse expressions from visual artists in and beyond our Congregation.

Who May Apply

We consider original, wall-mounted works in all media including painting, drawing, print-making, photography, digital image making, and fine crafts such as weaving or ceramic sculpture. Our constraints for space will not allow for floor works such a sculpture or works that need pedestals or vitrines. Only ready-to-install, wall-mounted works can be considered.

Besides our members, artists from outside the Congregation, whether they are Jewish or not, may apply to show their works in the program if the work has specific Jewish themes or worldview consistent with the spirit of this Congregation.

Artists who are members of WJC will pay a 20% commission on sales. Nonmembers will pay 25%.

What and When to Submit

• Up to 10 slides or jpegs (image size up to 10", saved at 72dpi) on a CD, prepared either for MAC or PC or your website.
• A resume pertaining to artistic career.
• An optional artists statement or description of the works submitted, not to exceed 200 words.
• Send to Woodstock Jewish Congregation, 1682 Glasco Turnpike, Woodstock, NY 12498, Attention: Gallery Committee, with a self-addressed return envelope with stamps (not metered postage) for the return of artists’ materials. Please note without SASE, we cannot return materials.
