In response to Rabbi Jonathan’s announcement of his retirement effective at the end of June, 2022, the board asked several members of the congregation to be members of a search committee for an interim rabbi to serve the congregation from June, 2022 – June, 2023. Besides leading services and taking on all the responsibilities of our rabbi, the interim rabbi’s job is to help our community process the loss of our long-time rabbi and guide us as we discern the qualities we want in our next “settled” rabbi.
The search committee has created a job posting, which will be advertised on various Jewish job sites after Yom Kippur.
The process will proceed as follows:
Early fall: The committee will receive resumes and decide which candidates to interview on Zoom.
Late fall: The committee will conduct preliminary interviews via Zoom.
Mid-winter: The most promising candidate(s) will be invited to Woodstock to lead services in our sanctuary and via Zoom. We will ask for your feedback on these candidates.
Late winter: After reviewing the feedback, the committee will recommend to the board which candidate to hire.
Early spring: If the board accepts the recommendation, they will offer a contract to the candidate. The successful candidate will be announced to the congregation.
