Carol Moskot is a second- and third-generation descendant of Holocaust survivors. She recounts the story of her father, Dave Moskot, who grew up in a shtetl in the Eastern Carpathian Mountains of Czechoslovakia. As a teenager, he fled Budapest where he was hidden by the Zionist Youth Underground. He later boarded the Haganah ship, Exodus 1947, and immigrated to Israel in 1948.
This event will also feature a new composition by Hazzan Raechel Rosen in collaboration with Julia Haines, weaving in Yiddish poetry by Holocaust survivor Rivka Basman Ben-Hayim.
Co-sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Ulster County.
