Counting the Omer is a sacred practice in the Jewish tradition, with ancient roots in the Torah. This period connects Passover, the time of our liberation with Shavuot, the time of revelation, and has evolved from agricultural origins into a process of personal self-assessment and growth.
In the seven weeks from the second Passover seder until Shavuot, we will meet for weekly check-ins and insights, following the kabbalistic sephirot associations as well as correspondences with the seven days of creation and the seven species. We will also include Torah chapters and verses, the weekly Torah parashiot, and Psalms in our Omer counting practice.
If you have never counted the Omer, you will learn about a powerful spiritual practice of opening to new awareness and possibilities. And for those who have a counting practice, this is an opportunity to deepen your relationship with an unusual holiday.
We will begin on Thursday, March 26, to prepare ourselves for the weekly practice that begins at the second seder (April 2, this year) and then resume our meetings at the start of the second week, Thursday, April 9). Each week we will focus on its quality.
