Join us to celebrate the holiday of Shavuot, the Time of the Giving of Our Torah.
Tikkun Leyl Shavuot, Sunday, June 1, 8–10pm IN PERSON AND ONLINE
Text study is traditional for erev Shavuot and this year we will convene two separate groups to do a close reading of the Book of Ruth, chosen by our sages because of its connection to both the agricultural and spiritual dimensions of the holiday.
Rabbi Karen will lead the in person discussion from the shul. We will begin with a short ma’ariv service and then dive into the text. We also celebrate by eating delicious dairy foods provided by the Holiday Committee. Please contact Diane if you would like to assist with set up and refreshments.
Rabbi Ellen Triebwasser will convene our discussion on Zoom for those who would like to study online. She will screen share the text for easy access. Zoom access link is in our email newsletter, or REGISTER HERE
Shavuot morning sunrise service, Monday, June 2, 5am, Kingston Point Beach, IN PERSON ONLY
Please join Rabbi Karen and Rabbi Jack Sherett, the new rabbi at Congregation Emanuel of the Hudson Valley, at Kingston Point Beach for a collaborative sunrise service. We will watch the sun rise over the Hudson, meeting it with prayer and meditation.
Shavuot festival service, Tuesday, June 3, 10am ET, IN PERSON AND ONLINE, including Shavuot Yizkor service
Please join Rabbi Karen and Cantor Raechel for a Shavuot festival service, which includes the traditional Torah reading for Shavuot: reading the section of Exodus that describes the giving of the Ten Commandments. We will also chant Hallel and offer our traditional Yizkor service.
