Joseph Garlock -
An Immigrant's Gift to America ― Paintings 1949―1980. Opening Reception: Sunday, September 14, 2014: 3 - 6 pm

Joseph Garlock immigrated to the US from Russia in 1905 and after a lifetime of hardship, retired to Woodstock in 1949. He began painting and created an incredible body of rich, colorful and magical "outsider" art depicting shtetl life, the journey to America, and life in the USA and Woodstock.

Two related programs illuminate Garlock's contribution to art and the immigrant experience:

Informational Evening on Joseph Garlock: September 17, 6 - 8 pm: With Garlock family members and James Cox, artist representative, including a fascinating visual presentation of the history surrounding Garlock’s immigrant experience.

A Night of Community Storytelling on Family Immigration Journeys: October 14, 6 - 8 pm

Call us at 845-679-2218 for more information and to sign up to be a storyteller at this wonderful community event.
